Job Title: Welcome Home Family Program Director
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Job Summary:
Coordinates and directs all services involving family support services for homeless veteran families as it relates to the Welcome Home Family Program. Manages and coordinates Department of Veteran Affairs Per Diem contracts and other treatment contracts as assigned. Develops and meets the goals of all assigned contracts. Supervises all employment, CAADAC, and regular case-management counseling staff. Networks with the recovery community and other service providers and represents the agency in civic activities, as required.
Job Controls
Performs duties under the supervision of the Chief Operation Officer.
Qualifications
- Must have BA in Human Services or related field
- Must be certified or working toward certification, by a recognized State entity, in AOD studies
- Must be able to fluently read, write and communicate in English
- Must be able to comfortably sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to work flexible hours

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES
- Coordinates and directs all family related services
- Plans and coordinates with the clinical staff all groups related to mental health, alcohol and drug recovery.
- Assures clients receive daily instructions on alcohol and drug recovery issues.
- Implements and enforces all program guidelines and rules.
- Demonstrates strong leadership and maintains direct involvement with residents.
- Conducts weekly community meetings for all Supervises Resident Managers
- Supervises the screening of applicants for residential services.
- Coordinates transition within the program, and transition to non-residential services upon graduation.
- Coordinates policy and procedure changes within the program and the Resident Council.
- Conducts weekly new resident orientations.
- Familiarizes staff with policies and procedures of the agency.
- Assures that both interns and staff receive periodic training in workshops, seminars and other activities to stay current with the provision of family services and the alcohol and drug recovery field.
- Represents VVSD in civic activities and attends all related meetings for family treatment and prevention.

Job Title: Masters Level Mental Health Case Manager/AOD Counselor for VRC
Qualifications:
- Veteran Status a plus
- Masters degree in a related Mental Health Field (MFT/MSW)
- Basic understanding of Veterans benefits and issues.
- Knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction recovery process and 12 step principles
- Experience working with and/or knowledge of combat trauma/PTSD/TBI
- Must be able to fluently read, write and communicate in English.
- Valid California drivers license, vehicle insurance, CPR and First Aid certification.
- Intermediate computer skills
Responsibilities and Major Duties:
- Perform intake interviews, complete comprehensive clinical assessments and make appropriate referrals as needed
- Formulate individualized treatment case plans
- Perform weekly individual case management with all assigned clients.
- Facilitate structured didactic groups and process groups
- Perform individual therapy with assigned clients as needed
- Liaison with VA staff and VVSD medical staff
- Work various shifts, including some evenings.

Job Title: Two (2) Alcohol & Drug Counselor/Case Managers, VRC
Qualifications:
- Veteran Status a plus
- Currently hold a valid California AOD certification or actively working toward an AOD certification and hold a minimum of an A.A. Degree in related field.
- Must have minimum of two (2) years recent work experience in a residential treatment program or residential social service setting.
- Basic understanding of Veterans benefits and issues.
- Basic certified knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction recovery process.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Valid California drivers license, vehicle insurance, CPR and First Aid certification.
Responsibilities and Major Duties:
- Perform intake interviews, assessments and refer clients to appropriate community resources
- Perform individual addiction counseling and case-manage all assigned clients through their treatment completion and follow-up.
- Facilitate structured didactic groups and process groups
- Assist residents with individual treatment planning, employment planning, and exit planning.
- Work various shifts, including some evenings.

Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse (Current LVN license in CA). Works under supervision of VVSD Psychiatric Nurse
Qualifications:
- Must have current California LVN license
- Must be able to fluently read, write and communicate in English
- Must have knowledge through practical experience in caring for adults with psychiatric issues
- Familiar with Veteran needs
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications
- Ability to participate in and gather data for comprehensive client assessments
- Experience in clinical documentation
- Intermediate computer skills
- Able to professionally continue to build good rapport with a variety of staff, residents etc.
- Veteran status a plus or previous experience in the service
- Knowledge of 12-step program and addiction/recovery treatment
- Must be able to climb stairs, comfortably stand/sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to work flexible schedule
Duties:
- Patient education i.e. pain management, therapeutic exercise, health education and nutrition.
- Work under the direction of the Psychiatric Nurse to uphold medication management protocol for VVSD residents taking prescribed medication.
- Under the supervision of the Psychiatric Nurse educates and refers clients to local healthcare providers where client issues can be addressed, such as: medical needs, prescriptions and medication changes.
- Educate clients concerning their health issues and prevention of diseases. Assist in health education classes and conduct classes when necessary
- Client screening
- Identifies and reports signs and symptoms of illness and adverse reactions to medications
- Must be able to work proficiently without continuous instruction from others
- Performs first aid if required
- Monitor medical supplies, narcotics and medication.
- Participate in Quality Improvement as required
