Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic
In partnership with Veterans Village of San Diego, the Thomas Jefferson School of Law offers a Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic which provides limited legal assistance, as well as full service legal representation, to residents and alumni of VVSD.
The clinic provides services to veterans who are struggling to regain full participation in society. Areas of concentration include family, consumer, and administrative law. TJSL students have primary responsibility for the clinic’s cases they handle and the clients they represent.
Veterans are supported by TJSL students who are guided by faculty members and clinic fellows. The clinic provides support to residents and alumni of VVSD, while at the same time providing important experience for TJSL involved in the clinic.
TJSL students focus on the substantive law relevant to the veteransÂ’ cases, the lawyering skills necessary to represent the veterans effectively, and the ethical and professional issues that confront lawyers engaged in this type of practice.
