Donate A Vehicle

CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services) is a nationally recognized social enterprise nonprofit that helps thousands of nonprofits in the U.S. and Canada increase their fundraising and acquire
new contributors through turn-key vehicle donation programs. Since 2003, CARS has returned more than $300 million to our partners.

Veterans Village of San Diego is in partnership with Charitable Adult Rides and Services (CARS).

You can donate your car, truck, van, SUV, boat, motorcycle, ATV, RV, trailer or airplane has never been easier!  

 

Donating your car, truck, van, SUV, boat, motorcycle, ATV, RV, trailer or airplane has never been easier! Simply fill out the form below, donate or give us a call, and our trained staff will guide you through the donation process.

Schedule the Vehicle Pick up

In some areas, we will have the ability to schedule the vehicle for pick up during your initial call. In all other cases CARS will contact you within 2-3 business days to set a convenient appointment time for pick up. If you need your vehicle picked up sooner, please call us toll-free at (855) 500-RIDE (7433) as we may be able to make those arrangements. The vehicle will be picked up by a licensed tow company at no cost to you and will be taken to our sale location. You will be provided a Donation Receipt by the tow driver at the time of pick up.

The Vehicle is Sold

We have sales locations where we evaluate each vehicle. When it is cost-effective, we make major and/or minor mechanical repairs. We use auction houses to sell the majority of our vehicles. On occasion we may receive a unique or specialty item for which we may use other means to sell the vehicle. Our goal is to ensure that the non-profit organization receives the maximum amount of money for each donation that they receive.

We Provide all Necessary Tax Deduction Receipts and Forms

Within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle, you will receive a thank you letter which you may use as a tax receipt. This may be your only receipt if your vehicle sells for $500 or less. If your donated vehicle sells for more than $500, we will mail you an additional receipt known as “IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes” if your tax identification number has been provided.

Veterans Village of San Diego would like to thank everyone that participated in the 2023 Stand Down event. This event would not possible without your support, donations, partnerships, and commitment to help to end veteran homelessness. Veterans Village of San Diego is deeply grateful for the 800 volunteers and 50 community partners that worked extremely hard to make Stand Down possible. This year’s annual Veterans Village of San Diego 2023 Stand Down impact expanded the reach of 564 veterans and family members, 40 children, 30 pets, 1,500 meals were served each day and many critical services were provided to veterans in need. Thank you to each and every person that made Stand Down possible.
